Formed through the merger of three congregations during the pandemic, St. Martin de Porres Episcopal Church is now discerning how to best steward its two campuses. In partnership with VEREP, the church is exploring income-generating uses and mission-aligned partnerships to make faithful and sustainable use of its buildings.
Background
St. Martin de Porres was formed in 2020 by the merger of three congregations that had begun to worship together during the Covid pandemic and now has two campuses with buildings beyond their current needs.
Project Details
VEREP is working with St. Martin de Porres on several fronts, including:
Licensing or leasing portions of their property
Determining whether early child development programs are a viable use
Weighing the pros and cons of third-party relationships for property management and marketing
This study may also provide a template on how to lease well for other congregations.
Community Impact
St. Martin de Porres hopes to use some of the property it is not using itself to generate income and to house organizations with compatible missions.
Status
Active – Working with real estate and child care consultants
Does your congregation have more space than you need? VEREP can help you explore faithful, mission-aligned options for leasing, licensing, or community use.
