With deep roots dating back to 1667, St. Paul’s King George is planning boldly for the future through its SPC2100 initiative.

Backed by a feasibility study funded by Trinity NYC, the church is exploring creative ways to expand its ministries and community presence, including plans for a recreation center, thrift shop, coffee shop, school, and more.

Historic Legacy and Community Presence

St. Paul’s King George traces its origins as a parish to 1667. Its current brick building was constructed in the 1760s. St. Paul’s has a strong presence in its community and welcomes neighbors to an annual Oktoberfest.

The SPC2100 Vision

The five components of the SPC2100 plans under consideration are a multipurpose recreation center housing a worship center/basketball court, thrift shop, coffee shop/caterer, cell tower, and school.

The church recently embarked on a project it is calling SPC2100 to grow the church, not just for the present but so that future generations of St. Paul’s can continue to serve its community into the next century. They have recently acquired 16 acres of land across from the church as a foundation for their vision of the future.

Feasibility Study and Funding

The church has secured funding from Trinity NYC to help with the feasibility study and it continues investigating several options.

Plans Under Consideration

While housing was initially considered, the five components of the SPC2100 plans now under consideration are:

  • A multipurpose recreation center housing a worship center/basketball court

  • A thrift shop

  • A coffee shop/caterer

  • A cell tower

  • A school

Each of these areas has an established subcommittee of the overarching SPC2100 committee. Furthermore, subcommittees have developed business plans with expected customer revenues.

Financial Projections and Community Impact

Based on initial analysis as well as past experience, it is expected that the center will generate approximately $200,000 per year and that the school will break even from an income standpoint. Each component is a valuable outreach ministry for the community.
