Virginia Diocesan Homes is now Virginia Episcopal Real Estate Partners

Virginia Diocesan Homes has a new name and expanded mission. Now known as Virginia Episcopal Real Estate Partners (VEREP), the organization continues its six-decade legacy of serving the Diocese of Virginia while broadening its work to support congregations in reimagining church properties for affordable housing, community services, and sustainable ministry.

Originally founded to address the need for senior housing in the 1960s, Virginia Diocesan Homes played a central role in establishing continuing care communities across the Diocese, often in collaboration with ecumenical partners.

Today, as many churches face new realities with underutilized sanctuaries, rectories, parish halls, and open land, the newly renamed Virginia Episcopal Real Estate Partners (VEREP) will walk alongside clergy and lay leaders in discerning faithful, practical uses of their property.

The updated name reflects both the Episcopal Church’s identity and VEREP’s commitment to partnership with congregations and community organizations.
